Cultural Heritage Protection and Presentation Policy

Preservation of Tangible and Intangible Values Related to Our Identity, Culture, and History Cultural heritage consists of all tangible and intangible values related to our identity, culture, and history. Historical cities and textures, cultural landscapes, monumental structures, and archaeological sites, as well as living but intangible values such as language, traditions, dance, music, and rituals, constitute cultural heritage. In the conventions prepared by UNESCO, ICOMOS, and similar international institutions, and in international law texts, the concept of cultural heritage is categorized as tangible cultural heritage, intangible cultural heritage, underwater cultural heritage, and natural heritage. Tangible cultural heritage is further divided into movable and immovable cultural heritage. Movable cultural heritage includes paintings, sculptures, coins, manuscripts, and archaeological artifacts; immovable cultural heritage includes monuments, archaeological sites, historical urban textures, and building complexes; underwater cultural heritage includes shipwrecks, underwater remains, and cities; intangible cultural heritage covers oral traditions, performing arts, and rituals; natural heritage with a cultural dimension includes natural sites, cultural landscapes, and physical, biological, and geological formations. The preservation of cultural heritage assets; according to Law No. 2863 on the Protection of Cultural and Natural Assets, includes safeguarding, maintenance, repair, restoration, and functional transformation; for movable cultural assets, it is defined as safeguarding, maintenance, repair, and restoration.

  • We publish brochures, booklets, and videos to promote our cultural heritage assets in our activities.
  • We participate in initiatives with NGOs and local authorities that focus on the preservation of cultural heritage assets.
  • To raise awareness regarding the protection and presentation of cultural heritage assets, we organize internal training and internal communication activities and include this topic in sustainability training programs.
  • We take actions to ensure the sharing of the local cultural heritage inventory.
